Downsizing Tank, Some Adivce Please.

Hi I currently have a Juwel Rio 180 and Have just purchased a 60 litre Tank with 2 filters and an airpump. What im planning on doing is Filling the tank leaving it to settle for a day or two then adding my Gravel from my Juwel with should contain some bacteria and then adding my Fluval plus 2 filter that has been running in the Juwel for well over 2 months. If I put my fish in the new 60L tank with my +2 filter with its media and the gravel will that be ok or not?

As long as you de-chlorinate the water in your new tank it will be fine.

Don't use the mucky gravel, this will pollute your water and make it go very murky. Use clean gravel. The beneficial bacteria lives in the filter not in the gravel.

Its black roman gravel and is not mucky so that should be ok, and that was a long time ago Rickzayne Haha I have 7 cardinals at the minute and 6 Tiger barbs but I think ill trade the tigers for more cardinals... cheers for the help guys

Hehe, So should I net all the cardinals and put them in a bowl, then quickly drain the Juwel and keep a little bit of that water then add that and the gravel to the 60L tank then top that up treat the water and add the Fluval +2 then add the cardinals sound ok?

you will be amazed at how minging your gravel is, regardless of how good you think you hoover it. id rinse the gravel in a bucket or something before putting it in the tank. fish will last for ages in a bowl or something, just keep it dark and put soemthing like a bit of decor in with them. i recently cleaned my tank right out, and had my fish spread across 3 buckets and a dog bath, at least 45 minutes and no problems.

Agreed - mine spent a good 3 hours in a bucket today. 46 fish and 4 shrimp. definitely wash the gravel.
