dont you just love car boots... just picked up

2f tank (15G)
T8 light unit (fitted into the hood)
under gravel filter
internal filter
50w heater
air pump with bubble wall
full freshwater test kit, each bottle over half full

all this for £15 =D and all working (besides light which needs new bulb)

Now all thats left to do is get it cleaned and set it up. What you going to do with it? Would love a 2F Shrimp Tank with Java moss everywhere and vallis in the back.

im thinking of just keeping it for spare at the moment... to be honest... cos iv got 3 2 foot tanks now... and 2 of them are full of water. one with fish 1 without (at the moment) but im dropping down to 1 2f tank i could put another one in but yer. i might give it to my mum. for in her school (shes a teacher) or my sis might want it =]

any clue how undergravel filters work?... iv only ever used internals

I'd be inclined to switch that heater for a 100w one else it'll be working flat out, but what a bargain!

its only a 57L tank. i got advised 1w/l for heaters give or take... so its not to bad... im not sure how long the people i bought it off had it set up but its all working

Undergravel Filters are just that, filters that go under the gravel, They pull water down through the gravel, and with it all the detritis and other waste materials. These can't be used with sand though so it would have to be gravel you used mate

ohh right but how does it pull the water down... by air? cos theres not an inlet on the internal filter for any pipe?

Undergravel filters consist of plastic filter plates which are like grates that lie under the gravel of your fish tank. Water's usually taken in by either a power head which will pump water out of the top of the lift tube and into the tank or an air pump which will blow bubbles at the bottom of the lift tubes and the bubbles will lift water up the lift tube and into the tank. As water is moved out of the lift tube, it is replaced with water from under the filter plate, which in turn pulls water through the gravel where it is cleaned. The gravel it self provides mechanical filtration by catching large free-floating particles.
