aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...............................

i know i know i know which is why its so hard

I vote for Keith.
I've enjoyed reading your posts about him, & he does seem like he's become a member of your family,& he is a stunning fish

I don't wanna see Keith go  He's the only reason why I ever thought of getting an oscar fish, and I still want to save up to a good tank for one

If I were in your shoes, I'd choose neither, and get rid of the stingrays instead. They seem like the biggest issue in here. But between the two, I'd get rid of the ornatums, rarity doesn't make a fish imo. Keith is beautiful, and the journal about his new tank was quite the read.

I looked at the raphael before the fish, you've got a beautiful catfish there

Got to admit, I would vote keep Keith and rehome the Ornatums as it would be easier to find Ornatums again where as it would be pretty hard to find an other Keith - Im on the brink of loosing my Nicaraguan and I cant bear the thought of getting an other, I think you and Keith and me and Elsie are pretty similar situations.

Though I kind of agree with Onidrase - the Rays are kind of the issue :/ Agreed they are amazing animals but for me they just deserve the specialist set up they need and are not a risk it and see situation like Discus but I can see it from your side as well - as in it is worth a go... its a toughy.

But yeah for me between Keith and the Ornatums - you will find an other group of Ornatums should you end up wanting them again. Plus given the size of them now you could probably sell them for enough money to get a good fund going for the monster tank for the Rays :D

I doubt the ornatums will be that easy to find this batch was the first to be imported for 20 years

In a similar boat with a Trimac and breeding pair of red terrors. Trimac has all the personality, but I’ve always wanted to keep a festae pair. So the Trimac has been rehomed.

I would keep the Ornatum, keeping a fully grown breeding pair would be very valuable and you could make some money out of the spares and fry due to their rarity.

An Oscar, is very common but a more interactive and fun fish to keep.

Having said that, anyone buying Ornatum is gna be very careful the way they keep them, someone buying an O, less likely to have the same consideration.

Yeah but there are quite a few spread out around the cichlid auction circles with most of them offering fry from pairs every so often. Not an easy call by any means but I still think its easier to find a rare cichlid than a fish that clicks with you.

+1 on everyone who wants to keep keith. He is very special, a personality that would be hard to replace with any fish. Whether it be a flowerhorn, a ray, 5 ornatums or whatever.

really i was unaware that people had got them to breed yet.... plus the growth rate of these fish is very slow so to get 5 inch+ ornatums doesnt happen overnight

Im sure I have seen a few posts around Im sure of people claiming to have bred them.

The two best options so far imo don't involve selling keith

I think it's smartest to either

Sell the stingrays and buy them again when you do have the large tank that they need

or sell the ornatums and put the money from them to save for the giant tank the stingrays will need

Another thing that worries me about selling keith is that not everyone treats their oscars well. Or they'll treat them well for a while and get bored of them.

You can't tell me you haven't seen all those videos of oscarfish being kept in like 20-40 gallon tanks with a assload of other fish that would grow big if tell taken care of. And all the things dumb teenagers like to do with them. They're hardy, they live long, and people tend to take this as an advantage to treat them like crap just because they can live through it.

Ornatums, however, if they're as rare as everyone is saying, and being sold at a high price, they'll definitely be getting a good home no matter where they go, because they're not fish that you find every day for 2-5 dollars at the local petsmart.

And the stingrays, of course, I know nothing about, but I still feel like you should sell them and wait till you have a tank that they can use as a permanent home to get some again, honestly.

Have to agree its either the rays or ornatums if it were me the ornatums would go
