Donna Or Donny?!

I bought Donna along with 5 other female bettas from my lfs a couple of weeks back. Donna was always the largest of the girls. She was quite stroppy the first day I got her but soon settled down.

I hadn't noticed any problems until this morning. The Master is in the community tank with the girls. They have all been getting along just fine. This morning however I saw Donna going after The Master like crazy and really flaring at him! The Master got out of the way pretty darn quickly! I remember seeing a topic on here last week where someone was asking if their betta was female or male. I replied that 'she' looked just like my Donna. Everyone else who replied said that it was a boy No wonder he looked like my Donna then

'Donna' is in a floating fry tank in the main tank and is flaring like mad at any bettas that go near her. I am convincing myself she is a he,- but just want to confirm it before taking any further action. I haven't got anywhere to house another male at the moment and would have to return him to the lfs and swap for a 'proper' female.

It's just not been my lucky week as far as my bettas are concerned

That looks male too me! i would place a bet on it Hes a stunning fishie though its a shame you cant house him.

Ill eat my own arm if im wrong. But we need LilFishie on this one to confirm

If what I'm seeing is correct in some of the photos is the egg spot females have so I would say she is a female.. but I'm no expert I was just second guessing myself about my own betta earlier!

I've just looked at the photos again and can't see any egg spot. Till totally confused. then to make matters worse I just googled egg spots on female bettas and the first link I came to the writer is saying that some males can show fake egg spots! OMG whatever next?!

In the first photo is a small white dot between her beard and the back fin, maybe it's just a reflection of something or I'm seeing things I could be wrong. What made me think it was the egg spot was because I see it in the first 3 photos. But not once have I ever seen a male with one, so I'm not sure that is true.

Just dont get mad if I'm wrong, I'm no expert.

Some PK males do show egg spots, my Jovi had 1 for a while which was why i thought he was female

Hey theres an idea! Arent you trying to breed your beautiful bettas? She can send him to you and you can send her a female that you have bread! Everyones happy!

But at the same time that would be a lot of shipping 0_0

Never knew they showed egg spots though.. but at least I know I'm not going crazy now, I feel a little better lol.
