Hi Guys,

I am new to the forum so I am not 100% sure if this is the right section to post it.

Well I have a Dolphin C1000 pump which I am using. It is a pump that my friend had for a long time.

The main problem is that it needs a major clean and my friend cant remember how and he has lost the manual(duh). Do any of you have advice or the manual's on how to disassemble it?
Would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Bevan

I have had a quick search on line for a manual for that thing. It seems to be an off-brand canister filter. In that case it will have some way to shut off the flow path from the tank so that you can remove the canister without losing water from the tank. On a Rena XP series it is a lever that is raised. On a Marineland C series it is a lever you lift and turn. On a Eheim, you are provided separate shutoff valves on the supply and return lines. Once it is removed, look for clamps or similar items holding the pumping head on the top onto the body of the filter. With the pumping part removed, the impeller can be cleaned rather well in a sink basin. The filter media will be sitting below the pumping head and will need to be rinsed out using old tank water. Reassembly will be the opposite of dis-assembly, so keep track of how it came apart.
