Does Too Much Dechlorinater Cause Flicking?

Too much dechlorinator will not cause adverse affects to my knowledge provided you don't dose your tank with buckets of it. =) Flicking could also be an early sign of ich.

with most you can safely does up to x5 of the stated amount, so unless you dropped a bottle in the tank I doubt it's the cause.

Aye thought so. Was either going to be that or my latest geo having something.......but then I've crossed this issue before and blamed another brand of declor.

Is there something perhaps in your tap water then? Something the dechlorinator doesn't remove? Do you change your water frequently enough that it's not a drastic change?

My fish will flash after a large wc sometimes. If I turn up the sand they itch from little bits gettig on them. If I do a really large wc a little late they flash because there is a ph change. My tap water is ph 7.5 but after being in the tank it drops to 6.5. So that will do it. If I only do a little wc it's no big deal orlike with my discus I do a wc everyday so the ph does not get a chance to drop that much.

Mine all flick a little after a wc, especially if I have added the water really quickly and got lots of air in the tank, I think sometimes air bubbles get stuck to the fish. Most of my fish will hang around and swim in the flow of new water comming in, I put the flicking down to the air bubbles tickling!

........the new big fella's still doing it today

He keeps rubbing his chin and gills on the sand every now and then and his fins are quivering a lot!

Most of the fish aren't doing it, or not often enough for me to notice. I have seen the sev rubbing once or twice in the last two days.

Everytime I order a fish online something extra comes with it! Collection in person next time me thinks!!!

Trouble is that I've had this problem before and have a big bottle of sterazin left from last time. I aren't 100% this stuff does anything though because thinking about it I've had this problem on and off for a while. I always just associate it to new fish being added and dosing with the sterazin I'm starting to believe is a placebo
