Does fishkeeping ever get easier?

$40?! I know they're expensive but that's just ridiculous. they're about £6 here which is $9...I'm sorry to hear you're having such troubles, hope stuff gets sorted out soon. :(

And never think that just because someone has been in the hobby a while, that they don't have emergencies to deal with also. I got some beautiful koi angel babies from a friend who breeds them. They were doing great, and then all of a sudden my ammonia and nitrites skyrocketed! I have no idea what I did to cause it, but I wasn't gonna lose any of my fish! I did lots of water changes, added 2 sponge filters for more bacteria growth and aeration, and borrowed an established filter from another tank for a few days. It was close, but they made it through! Those angels are extra special to me. So just remember, we all have bad days with our tanks from time to time. Newbies just get it more often! And from the experiences you are having right now with water quality and treating sick fish, you will be an expert in no time! You don't even realize the knowledge you are gaining right now. Hang in there! You will definatly see how worth it all was in the next few months!

I think that in this hobby, the more you worry the more grief (read $)you encounter :)

There are probably loads of fishkeepers out there who dont bother to check ammonia, nitrates etc., clean their tanks once every month, feed them whenever they can remember and yet have a wonderful experience.

So...moral of the story is...... Live and let live???????

I need to get to that point where I don't worry so much. I've been trying to tell myself this is what I have to do and it's the best I can do and if they die then they die. It's hard though but I'm better today than I was yesterday!!

I sat down last night and wrote up on a piece of paper a schedule with the dosage amounts of the ick medicine for each tank and which days to treat so I feel on top of things now. It was just overwhelming at first

I just hope I can get through this ick and come out with all my fish still alive!! They are all active and eating like normal so that's a positive sign!!

Thanks for all your support!! Really keeps me going :*)
