We went out and bought some fish but we are not sure what kind of fish this is can someone please tell me what they are?

Yep sure is - prepare for it to burry into the gravel and never be seen again untill the next gravel clean out!! thats what my two did. put them in and thought they were dead for about a year till cleaning out the gravel there they were.

Yes, it is some type of pangio loach. Pretty much all of them with the characteristic eel-like body shape are called kuhli loaches in the hobby.

Nothing surprises me anymore, but that does take the cake for a fish shop!!!
By the way, Pencilfishes and Tetras are two separate kinds of fishes. And neither crawl along the bottom.
