I was debating getting some pictus catfish.

I was wondering if they are strictly nocturnal, or if they come out and are active during the day?

Also, can they be kept in a group of 3, or do they need a larger group to be happy?

Thanks!

I had five of these who took residence under a large piece of bogwood, at regular intervals I would see them dart from the "Den" across the tank and then back.

Feeding time was best.

Unfortunately after further research I now realize how large they get. Way too big for the 36" 35 Gallon tank I was planning on housing them in.

I have 2 in my 100gal they are 5" and 6" . They have amazing stomachs. Even when they are full and look like they are going to pop they will still eat more. They are crazy.

Mine are very active they will hide for a few minutes then get a bust of energy and zoom around the tank. They have little scuffles between each other and have hurt each other. These guys are fast and need a good amount of swimming space. They are food hogs and will eat anything they can fit in their mouth.

All and all a very entertaining fish that reminds me of a shark with the way they swim and eat.
