I was told in my local shop that Tiger Barbs are perfect for the Fluval Edge, i had some a few years ago and they only grew to about 2cm (if that) i had them for a good 2 years at least. So have i been ill informed?. I was also told that if i let the tank run a week without any fish then that would be fine, and also some Nutrafin cycle came with the tank, which helps grow friendly bacteria and it also says it allows fish to be immediatly added. So is all this info i was told and read in the instruction manual a load of rubbish??Stop!
You need to cycle your filter before you add any fish to the tank! This means letting bacteria build up in your filter before you do anything. This can take a few weeks, so you're in no rush to add any stocking! You can find more info on cycling your filter here!
Second, tiger barbs are far too big for a fluval edge. You'll be wanting to look for something smaller like a shoal of ember tetras or chilli rasbora, but like I said, not for a few weeks yet!

if you have another tank use some of the sponges of them in your new filter it will help speed up and increase bacteria.
