i took delivery of my new tank today its 60x18x24 and it will have my oscar and his tank mates in there from the garage.

ive been buying new wood and have just managed to squeeze the biggest bit in somehow....

would you say he will have enough room to swim and get about?

he will be coming into this from a 6.5x2x2 so its quite a bit smaller but just wondered if the wood was taking up too much space...

sorry about the crap pics, they were taken on my phone

nahhhh he'll hate it.. prob best if i pop round and pick it up before he sees it and gets upset :p

i joke! he's gonna love it!!

Looks touch and go to me. I think the only way you'll know for sure is by putting the wood in like that and watching how he adapts to the space in the new tank.

How long is Keith now ?

I'd be tempted to take out the wood on the right side of the picture and replace with a rock or two, that doesn't sit as high up in the water.

Why not move Kieth and his company to the 9x2x2 tank that you posted about in the tropical section, using this tank for a different setup? I'm sure Kieth would love the space as he becomes a "big lad."

this was my concern.

keith is about 13 inches now.

the wood on the right is right up against the back wall and doesnt come into the tank too much. ill get a pic from the side to show ya.

its still plenty big enough. i would lose the wood tho,and replace with something that cant get shifted

the bigger tank is a long way off at the minute tbh.

im not sure how much keith will grow as he is already about 13 inches.

he has to come in this tank for now as his current tank is in the garage which is to be converted integral to the house in july. the tank hes in has now been sold and just awaiting me to empty it.

lol... 13inches... sheesh do u put him to bed in compost??... thats a fab size, they tend to not get larger than 12 in home aquariums so thats good work and care on your part :) x

his current tank has 2 x FX5's on it so they will be swapped over with the fish :good:

Yowser. Defo too much wood in there if you include all in the picture IMO.

the wood on the right is right up against the back wall and doesnt come into the tank too much. ill get a pic from the side to show ya.

That would be helpful in assessing it a little better.

heres a side view.

he will still have quite a bit of room but the bigger wood at the far end might cause him a bit of an obsicle to get round but it will give his tank mates place to escape if he gets angry....
