he will still have quite a bit of room but the bigger wood at the far end might cause him a bit of an obsicle to get round but it will give his tank mates place to escape if he gets angry....

Hmm, that larger bit of wood literally takes up almost half the tank. It takes a LOT of swimming space away. Admittedly it is a really special piece of wood but, personally, I would remove it to give Keith swimming room. I think the other bits of wood will still give some sort of refuge to any tankmates who need to get away from him.
You could replace the large piece wood with some other much smaller rock/wood to at least still have some decor visually at that end of the tank.

The way you have it set up in your first photo would be absolutely stunning for smaller fish but I think it is too much of a compromise for a chunky 13" oscar.

I actually like the wood as is,I would add a few smooth riverstones and fill it up.

Mayb if you put the two pieces together and make them look as if its one piece and then a few rocks at the other end

the bigger bit of wood at the far end does look a bit misleading from the pic. its very branchy and from the side pic it looks quite close branches but i think that keith will be able to get in front and over the wood just not round the back.

i need places for the catfish to hide and BGK and an area that the barbs can escape to. the barbs are getting more confident around keith and have started swimming under him at feeding to catch the spilt food..... but they are still very wary of him even though hes never tried to go for them from what ive seen.

heres a pic of his current tank. i know he has more room as the tanks 18 inches wider and 4 inches deeper but there is a large piece of wood that acts as a divider that keeps everyone in check.....
