Do You Feed Live Foods?

Just curious to know if anyone feeds live foods to their fish and if this is a regular thing or just a one off every now and then?

I've personally never seen any live foods being sold in any of the local fish stores, so haven't had the opportunity, otherwise I would probably be feeding that regularly

I don't feed actual live food, but I do give my betta boys some frozen blood worm as treats

My kids fish mosquito larvae out of the water butt in the summer (they love it! Even my 23 year old has a go sometimes ) and the oscar and big cats get the occasional earthworm, but I don't buy it.

All my tanks get frozen bloodworm and brine shrimp once a week too.

In the summer i leave a large 100L bucket in the garden for mosquito larvae ect to thrive in and i fish them out to feed my fish. Also i take earthworms and flying ants from outside to feed to my fish. Not often, but when i can

incredibly rarely as a treat (they go nuts chasing it around). Everything I have read states that they contain very little nutritional value, so I stick to the frozen versions.

and freezing live things isnt........

my rays get live earthworms every few days, great protein for them. infact they have had about 10 between them tonight

Almost totally...with the fish I keep.
I also culture almost all my own livefood.

My fish get lots of live blackworms. I also keep some frozen bloodworms in the freezer just in case I run out but I think a lot of nutrition is lost from their bursting when they freeze. Live food, which is completely intact, seems to be a better value.

Oh my goodness, smudge, I am sorry but that's really tickled me. "No it's cruel! I like mine frozen to death instead!".

On topic, I probably feed a bag of it every other month if that. They all love it but I prefer to feed frozen as a treat, I find live food a bit hit and miss depending on where you buy it.

I feed my oscar live earthworms from a bait shop twice a week and fed my fire eel 2 earthworms today.
I don't think its cruel.
