can anyone ID this plant? it seems to be thriving in this tank, probably due to the high NO3
but the lighting is only 15watt and it is a 20 USG tank, go figure.

they are beautiful, have you more info on them, i havent seen them before i think :)

Nice fish, but big teeth? Where? Should have got them at feeding time?

The plant looks like some kind of java fern, or amazon sword variant.

nice

my guess would be some sort of echniodorus (sword plant) they tend to thrive under low light with no extra care if the tanks heavily stocked and therefore has decent nitrates.

mine in oscars tank's flowering cos of it

possibly cryptocoryne undulata 'broad leaves' ?

wow just looked them up, they appear to be very aggressive.

thats for the hint, I think they are the std C.undulata though.

worse than piranha in the wild, in fact they often follow schools of piranha and take scales and fins off them
as well as getting in on their prey.

Very interesting fish. I will consider them for the future.
Plant is cryptocoryne undulata. I have it myself.

They should be in a species only tank, however bottom dwellers are left alone.
thanks for the plant ID confirmation :good:

Nice title work :shifty:
what are you implying :fun:

How many have you got?
started with 13 and am now down to 10,
they do have a habit of cannibalism on the weakest/slowest of the shoal.

What size are they then to have 10 in a tank that size?

How big are they gonna get?

Oh!, and what do you feed them?

Maximus

largest one is approaching 4" there rest range from 2.5" up.
max wild size is 6" and 4" seems to be the aquarium max.

diet is mainly Hikari floating carnivorous pellets and prawns with the occasional flake.
odd little fish seem to like the algae wafer that I put in for the adult CAE but as soon
as he comes out they 'run' away

fishy
I'm waiting for a royal visit before I stick my hand in there and clean the glass :p
