hey, im going 2 have a mini pond pics below i was wondering do i have 2 have a filter pump and plants in it ?
pics VV its 2 and a half foot long 2ft wide 1 and a half foot deep

If you put fish in it, then yes you need a filter of some sort.

my dad got a bigish pond and he hasnt got a filter in it tho

That may be true, but a bigger pond will have more surface area and more water volume.

If you want fish, yes.

Ideally both a filter and plants, though if your experienced enough you can get away with one or the other. Also depends what fish.

If you don't want fish, and are asking this question, then no, you don't need a filter or plant...but then you would just have a tub of water.

Your dads pond is totally different from what you have here, which is just a tub of water. The pond will have tones of natural bacteria and mulm, as well as a very high volume of water and probably algae and/or plants.

This is just a big tub, and should be treated like an awkward fish tank.
