Do Fish Remember Each Other From The Fish Shop?

Fish which have been separated certainly can recognise each other again, but it would depend on things like the species, the sex, and the length of time involved. But it is proved to happen (there's been a lot of work on female guppies in this field).

Well don't Bolivian Rams pair together really well? If you were to buy one in the store and then later on you introduced the other mate in the pair say a month later or even two months later. Would they remember each other?

lol what if we bought fish that hate each other, would they bicker with each other constantly and all we think is "awww they're playing "

We separated our female/male platies for about a week. Before we did we noticed that this cobra male guppy was obsessed with our female platy. Well, we put them back a week later...he's back to his old antics. Species confused, but lusting over the platy nonetheless. I don't know if he "recognizes" her so-to-speak, but he admires her colors at least.

my memory is wild and distorted, but i think i remember my lfs saying that their memory is a couple of minutes or seconds or something. (she was refferring to zebrafishes)

That's what people say isn't it, that fish have a memory of 7 seconds. Didn't they disprove that though? Coz if they did they wouldn't come to the top/front of the tank to see you thinking they're gonna be fed. They wouldn't be able to learn it.

Do you think fish get jealous of each other's colours?

i dont think fish do have a small memory.. how would they be territorial if they kept forgetting where they lived?

two of my tiger barbs used to gang up on a green tiger barb - maybe evidence of racism?
