Do fish get tumours? Worried it may spread to the whole tank.
If anyone has seem this before is there any treatment and will the fish die? Devasted at the idea of losing another of my jewel cichlids which I rised from fry. Already lost one which was badly bitten and died of its injries. If this goes I will only have one left.
I've just noticed a strange lump on my jewel cichlid. It's growing on the surface of the abdomen just where its pectoral fins are and seems to have replaced one of the fins. It's like a large flesh coloured spherical wart growth about 5mm in diameter.
For the past few weeks this fish has been hiding or staying close to the glass with partly clamped fins butI thought he was just being bullied by bossy brother,

yes fish can get tumours
i have sent you a link to look
at hope this helps

Lumps on fish can be tumours, bacterial, parasites, viral.

is the lump hard or soft like filled with fluid.
Does the lump resemble a cauliflower.
Any redness to the lump.
Is the lump on the surface of the skin, or beneath the skin.
Has the lump just suddenly appeared.

It's best to isolate fish with lumps incase they burst and infect the tank.
