After buying an overflow box with a hole in, ive decided to drill my tank and make my own weir.

I have bought a 45mm diamond coated drill bit to get though the glass but I was wondering how many holes I need to drill. Will one be sufficent?
The tank is around 100gal with a return pump of somewhere between 300 and 600 gph (large range i know :p )

So will one 45mm (1.75") hole be enough?

As Ben say's, having two is a much better option. Use one as the outlet to the sump and one as a fail-safe/overflow. Remember to leave an adequate gap between the two, as you are weakening the glass by drilling it. Also, remember to take your drill off of hammer action before you pull the trigger lol.
