DIY slate aquascaping

Has anyone used slate/shale pavers say from Home Depot? I’ve seen some vids on youtube of it being done, just breaking them up with a hammer and gluing them together. Just wanted to see if I can get some first hand experience and or pics.

Several places down south west coast we visit that have plenty of flat decent sized slate stones I am going to make some natural cave like structures after thoroughly washing first of course....cornwall has loads of natural slate

Drying my slate....used the hammer last night to smash up the tiles, soaked overnight, sanded down all the edges, rinsed, now drying. Next comes the building of structures

Well, finished product. First pic is ‘before’, next 3 are the final. Also added a Amazon sword and two winter moss rocks (hoping they grow out on the driftwood, before the turtle eats them all up)
