Disposing of household ammonia - starting fish tanks

Hi

I'm looking for some help, I purchased a bottle of household ammonia back a few years ago to ghost feed a tank to establish a colony of beneficial bacteria in the filter (before buying fish) off of advise from other fish hobbyists. I now have a bottle which has been sat in my cupboard for years and I'm looking to get rid of it safely. I have rang the local council and waste disposal sites to no avail, has anyone got experience with this?

See if a school needs it. Sometimes the janitors use it for cleaning.

I don’t get this whole adding ammonia business . It sounds goofy to me . Ammonia is a cleaner .

It's also a fish waste product (we excrete urea in urine, they excrete ammonia into the water)

It’s what fish produce. It establishes a colony of ammonia-eating bacteria more quickly.

Okay , that’s kind of what I thought was going on but trying to jump start things like that sounds risky to me . Adding ammonia is something I only heard about in the last year or so . It still sounds goofy to me . I think I’ll stick to the old ways .

It’s not risky at all if it’s done before fish. In the uk adding ammonia is ‘the old ways’, we’ve been doing it since about 1970.
