Hey congrats Beechey, about time they done the deed for you lol. I'd leave them for a while to practice (there will be no stopping them now) and to check you have a male fetilizing the eggs and not 2 females which sometimes happens. Then for chances of successful fry you will need to put pair in own tank.
good luck and regards Angel
let them practice a bit first, I try to wait untill I get wrigglers before moving them, as untill then you dont know if you actually have a pair, or a viable pair, or just a couple of fish laying eggs
Your fish are really beautiful...makes me miss my Discus. I had 5 nearly dinner plate sized of mixed variety and one day in the dead of winter my heater went wonky... I was away for the day and didn't realize it until it was too late.
something has also changed to 2 of my discus they are constantly fighting and have seemed to grow a new bit on there top fins ... is this normal.... i think they might be the males in my tank
You are correct, the elongated, pointy dorsal fin is a sure sign that it is a male and is perfectly normal. They usually only develop these when they get older, making it difficult to sex them early on. The anal fin will become pointier as well. My guess is that all of the 'sexual tension' in your tank has brought these traits out. LOL
