Just to let you know that I had an absolute disaster yesterday as a warning to everyone else running the hagen CO2 system. The grey canister thingy is located underneath my aquarium in the cabinet but somehow, could have been my toddler or myself putting something away on tuesday evening, the canister got knocked over. This caused the contents of the canister to be sucked into the aquarium somehow  . The aquarium has now turned into an enormous fermenting bin, the water is so cloudy I can't see the plants, there is no oxygen in the water and I have lost all my fish and shrimps. Despite numerous and frequent water changes I am fearful the plants will die as well, the whole thing is a mess with gloopy water, slimy feeling sides and leaves and I'm sure my biological filter must have crashed! I'm sooo depressed although things were put sharply into perspective after the news yesterday.

People make sure those canisters are secure and UPRIGHT!!

Simon :(

Sorry to hear about your awful news. :(

Let it be a lesson to us all. Thanks for sharing.

I'm glad I have mine attached to the rear of my hood, out of the way from those curious little hands!

Sorry to hear the bad news, i run 2 units underneath my aquarium, but what i did was got a square box about about 10x10 inches and put the units inside the box and stuffed the sides with newspapers so they cant move or the box cant be toppled over, its not child proof but it wont topple over accidently.

The thing i fear most other than the above, is when i am changeing the mix that the silicon tubing doesnt start to act as a syphon and start draining my tank as im making up the perfect brew in the kitchen.

Which reminds me, i must fit check flow valves..........thanks for the reminder.

awwww poor you and poor fishes :(

That's my worst nightmare (joint with coming home to find external filter pipes leaked all tank water on floor) :(

do what i do, buy a bunch of feeder goldfish and then if they dies feed it to a crayfish in another tank. that way its not wasted or flushed down the toilet

Thanks for the warning. I am going to find away to attach mine to my stand tonight - a metal half ring that I can screw right through. (I know what I mean... its hard to describe.)
