Dirty Plants

I have various different species of plants in my aquarium but they seem to be getting quite dirty, like stringy looking greyish stuff, for cleaning it off how should I go about it and for keeping it from gathering again should I (A) Up water changes or (B)Reduce the amount of food I give them? Any help is appreciated.

I use a bristlenose plec, eats all the algea right off the plants keeps them pretty clean
