Dilema! Immdiate Help Required!

ok so i won a aqua one 980 on ebay on sunday night, yipee. from there gets annoying, as i rang the guy up tonight to arrange pick up, i say sunday, he says oh if you had told me you were going to pick up on sunday i would not of let you bid! so i asked him when he could do it "some time in evening this week" i thought i would say wednesday as i have a half day at college and can nip over and pick it up. his response "i have parents evening in the evening so would have to be afternoon" ok i say four or five his response " blimey i said evening" by this point i'm getting hacked off, so i say to him its one of those times or you can relist it. he hangs up real mature for a grown man. i ring him back refuses to talk to me so i pass it over to my dad, he negotioates that we are picking it up tomorrow. by then my neighbour rings me up tonight as they know i'm into my fish and offer me there juwel rio 120. i accept i will have any freebe. but now i'm thinking i could have a tank for free instead of paying for one tomorrow and exscuse my language but have to pay a complete idiot! after that rant this is my dilema. i was planning on putting my spanner barbs, two spot catfish and rock shrimp in the new aqua one, but i don't think i can house the spanner barbs in a tank that size also i wanted to put a group of pictus cats in my new tank but i don't think i can house them either in this tank. so basically can my stocking fit in a 120l? also any advice on what i should do about this utter idiot tomorrow.

After just getting a second hand tank from someone similar to your person (additionally not getting the full deal we agreed on either) I can understand your temptations but if you want your fish for the 180 I would get it as you will only have to deal with him for a few moments. One thing I would recommend is not to hand over money until you have everything in the car it was only after we had handed over our money we were told it didnt include the heater or the full hood unit.... Good luck with it though

I'd say that however much you may dislike this person you wont the tank from, no those fish can't fit into a 120 long term.

The only thing I can think of is perhaps...pop them in the 120 and restart the search for a larger tank?

I do agree this guy does sound unreasonable. Yes you need a time that suits you both, but that's no reason to be rude. And when you are being the 'awkward' party, you should be extra curtious...

ah thanks, to be honest he does sound like the kinda guy who would either try to scam but would also keep it running nicely and treat the tank nice. and i have decided i'm going to store the 120 and then at a later date, sneekly set it up as i'm aloud no more than two tanks set up. i think i'm getting a good deal, i'm playing £150. the shop i work at we sell them for £350 as i did think about buying from where i work as i get 35% off, but still a bit high.

Yeah that seems like an ok price. Depends what extras you're getting really.

All I can suggest for picking it up is take someone with you. Not as 'back up' so to speak. But just so that you can perhaps go check on everything beforehand without feeling watched...or pressured to hurry up. You could always say 'oh I just want to check it while it's all within reach, just incase I need to pick anything else up on the way home.' Depending on what time of night it is of course...lol.
This only works if you pick up before like 6pm (pets at home would still be open).

yer thanks for your help curiosity, its just when i have ever gone to pick up any fish stuff whether it be a tank or filter the people have been really nice and just given me more stuff than i need. but this guy just seems the opposite. btw what fish is that in your picture?

ahh yes very nice! just thought i would let you guys know it all went well and the tank is in great condition and looks brand new and the people were very nice just wish i had talked to the wife on the phone, but o'well. look for some pics as i will be doing a journal on this tank.
