Hey guys I'll keep this brief. I'm starting an African Cichlid tank in a 29 gallon.
I attached the heater to the back-side of the tank, with the suction cups on either side
of the heater. A week later, I look at the heater's instructions more thoroughly and
realize the first instruction says "Attach suctions: Place ABOVE indicator light."
I had one of the suction cups under said indicator light. Now I'm worried the plastic from
the suction cup melted, thus contaminating the water. Am I being irrational?
Please let me know.

There are no living beings in the tank. I'm still trying to establish
the biological filter.

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

Aquarium heaters have 2 main parts in them, the thermostat and the heating coil. The thermostat is at the end by the cord and the heating coil is at the other end.

The reason you don't put the suction cups on the heating coil is because the glass gets hot and can melt the suction cups. It doesn't normally happen but can happen.

There shouldn't be any problems but if you are concerned, turn the heater and filter off, drain the tank and refill it with clean water. Then add some dechlorinator and turn filter and heater back on.

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me. There is no visible ware on the suction cup, so I might be all good to continue the process of establishing the bio-filter. d:D
