Always so tough for peeps to speculate without a pic, but here's the discription

- Copadichromis Azureus (Hap Malawi), about 4-5"
- One white(ish), opague (ish) looking round lump about 1-2mm (just under 2mm really) in diameter, right smack in centre of body, ever so slightly raised when looking at fish head on, when looking at this angle there almost seems to be some clear fluid surrounding the spot

- pH 7.8, temp 78F, Ammonia and Nitrite undectable on tests, Nitrate about 60,
- Fish looks great generally, lovely finnage, colour, big appetite, very active not fighting and i watch a lot.
- No other symptoms, no rubbing etc, eyes look normal,
- No other fish have any symptoms

i cant find anything on net that matches this, closest i could narrow it down to

either

- bacterial, some kind of body rot?

- fungus, but it doesnt quite have that cotton wool effect?

treatment if any?

PS - this is a newly set-up aqaurium, less than 2 weeks, all mature filtration though, but thought i tell you as i dont remember this fish having this lump before i bought it (stress related?) ???

cant see any red, could isloate in theory although would rather not, unless necessary i just find this adds to a fish's stress and further reduce it immune system BUT i see what your saying, a balance has to be struck between this fear of mine and putting the tank at risk.

i know the arguement about not medicating a whole tank coz of one fish, but i have Melafix and Primafix here and am tempted, but i will wait and see what develops with the fish's lump and the advise i get

thanks Wilder, no red apparent, does that change things?

Ok I do understand, but if that lump burst the liquid bacteria can infect the other fish.
Good luck.
Yes if there was red on the centre or the outside it points to that link.
