Hi currently setting up a Rio 400 which I bought at a steal! It's immaculate condition but the guy I bought it off didn't know nothing about tanks, infact he was selling the tank for dead relative. He emptied the tank and cleaned it with.....MR MUSCLE! followed by.... Washing up liquid!

Now, I can still smell this in the tank, I've tried warm washing it with water but due to the huge amount of liquid this tank holds, continuously flushing isn't really practical. I tend to fishless cycle for around a month or however long is necessary. Will this time period make the amount of chemical in the water negligible?

anyone got any advice on what I should do? Or am I over reacting?

Thanks
Lee

You could try wiping the tank out with a solution of vinegar and water then copious rinsing with water
