Can a fish carry a desease that it has had and become immune to, so that putting anymore fish into the tank will catch it?

Yeah it can. Thats y it is important how to choose fish and what type of fish to get and how healthy it is.

my fish had white spot, they are all ok now but i am worried that adding more fish might bring it back

The way that adding new fish will bring back white spot is if the new fish have a case that they bring with them. Ich is not always obvious on new fish which is why you are advised to quarantine them for a few weeks before putting them with your other fish.
