Bleeding heart / tiger platy

The bleeding heart platy was first developed in a late 1940s. There is a possibility that the original bleeding heart platy may no longer exist a similar strain had been developed many years ago they are sold under the name of tiger Platys however this new type carry’s The Mickey Mouse pattern however it’s still a nice looking Fish and has become popular in the local pet stores, the colour and amount of red can vary making it look like blood flowing from a wound

I too remember the original form which also happens to be one of the oldest platy variants. You could recreate it but it's a project. You'd need to find a clear bodied "Ghost" or "Gold" platy with no black anywhere, cross it to a mickey mouse bleeding heart, and judiciously select young with the bleeding heart trait but with the least or no black. It may take a couple of generations since the mickey mouse pattern is composed of two dominant traits--the black peduncle blotch/crescent and the two black caudal spots.

Ghost platys really turn up in the local Fish stores the last time I seen any available was a few years ago, is well worth a challenge

The socalled Mickey Mouse mark is a wild trait and no breeding trait to start with. And the official name for this type of mark is not called "Mickey Mouse" but "Moon complete". "Moon complete" has a clear socalled Mickey Mouse pattern. Just a less clear (specifically the two dots) Mickey Mouse pattern is called "Moon". A mark on that spot is not that easy to get rid off once it's present. But yes, use a male that has no tail mark. F1 offspring can be partially having the Mickey Mouse mark and partially without. But the F1 can also be a whole batch of Mickey Mouse pattern. Wild patterns are generally hard to get rid off. They are dominant in passing on. This goes for each type of mark, whether that's a moon, crescent, dot or whatever tail mark.
This socalled Mickey Mouse pattern has two varieties. One with the two dots in front or behind the broad stripe.
