okay... so here's the deal. i have a 55(US)G tank, which i am getting ready to set up with a jack dempsey, and maybe something else. i am aware that dempseys get rather large, and i do plan on upgrading in the near future, but i figure i should be okay for 6-12 months at least.
anyhow, i was looking around online to see if anything is compatible with jack dempseys. according to this website, the following make good tankmates for dempseys:
Central America
Vieja fenestrata
Parrot Cichlid (Hypsophrys nicaraguensis)
Texas Cichlid (Herichthys carpinte)
______________________________
South America
Chocolate Cichlid (Hypselecara temporalis)
Brasili (Geophagus brasiliensis)
Oscar (Astronotus ocellatus)
Sailfin Pleco (Glyptoperichthys gibbiceps)
Silver Dollar (Metynnis argentus)
______________________________
Asia
Cigar Shark (Leptobarbus hoevenii)
Tinfoil Barb (Barbus schwanenfeldi)
______________________________
Africa - Riverine
Jewel Cichlid (Hemichromis bimaculatus)
Leopard Bushfish (Ctenopoma acutirostre)
however, given their aggressive nature, i wasn't sure if these are actually able to hold their own with a dempsey. i would be getting any fish together so that they would grow up with one another, hopefully putting a stop to extreme territorial aggression in the future. anyways, just out of curiosity, what would you suggest?
