Deleting Own Posts

Because if you start the topic and delete the first post, either a) all the other posts are deleted or b ) the rest of the posts make no sense.

Also, the less power we have, the more power the mods have in relation to us. :P

If you say something stupid and want to delete it, but are too lazy to edit it (I'm sure there are crazy people out there like that), we don't get a good laugh out of it.

There are probably other reasons, but this question's been asked before, adn the answer was something like my first suggestion.

I don't see why not either. It's the same as editing your post and blanking it completely.

I offered them advice, then I read in another topic they decided to make a stupid comment to me, so I decided not to give them advice... it's as simple as that..

but instead of deleting it and avoiding a problem, I had to edit it.. then a troll like you has to make a big deal out of it.

This whole problem could have been avoided.

it would have been avoided if you were taught the right manners.

Remember that old saying of treat those the way you want to be treated? Trolling him for posting harshly, even rudely doesn't make you any better for doing it too.

As to the topic at hand, I've never really seen a real explanation for it. Most of the old explanations are no longer valid anymore. Most forums can delete a post without it deleting the following posts or denying a person the ability to delete a whole thread. But the mods have their reasons, whatever they are. I don't usually make mistaken posts so I never think of why it's wrong to delete them when they do happen.

Some threads would be totally unreadable if people removed posts that people were replying to.

So we should disable editing then? People can just as easily do that by deleting their comments as deleting the topic.

If people go back and edit / delte their post - at least it remains to to be seen - and any subsequent posts not making sense, would at least make sense - if you understand what I mean  (i.e. so at least you can see a reason why it doesn't make sense).

It's not a leap in logic if someone's post makes no sense, that it may have been in response to a previous, no longer existing post. Either way, it's IMO a weak excuse not to allow deleting posts.

Not for some - but for many it is ! Weak excuse or not - if it is even one.
