Well we are off to Scotland in a few weeks time to see the Polar Bear near Aviemore, hit a few whisky distilleries and then on to Edinburgh. I though that we would visit the Deep Sea World on the way in. I have an annual pass for the Blue Planet so the entry is free. Has anyone been? If so, what is it like?

It's ok.
Been a couple of times as it is only over the bridge. It is really tiny. So you are talking about a maximum of one hour.
I couldn't go again though.

Also if you do go, there may not be any seals as I think they do rescue/rehab/release.

Ah ok thanks for that. An hour to look around does make it sound pretty small, but it should be worth a drop in on the way past then. Would be good to see the seals so hopefully they will have some. I hope that they have some interesting Cichlids aswell!!

I think if you check their internet site they should have a list of the 'current' residents - give you an idea of what seals are likely to be there.

My local Seal Sanctuary (Gweek), part of the same group, always has an updated list, or they did last time I checked.

Hate to disagree, but Deep Sea World in Fife is owned by Deep Sea Leisure plc, who also own Blue Planet.

The Gweek sanctuary is owned by Merlin Entertainments, who also own the Sea Life chain, as well as Alton Towers, Chessington, London Eye, Madame Tussauds, Legoland, and a number of other places. They also have the Scotland Sea Life Sanctuary in Oban.

Sorry for being a pedantic twonk!

Ooh, saying an hour for a visit is generous - it's very tiny indeed, assuming it hasn't expanded in the 5 years since I've been. Also I recall it being pretty expensive compared to much larger aquariums I've visited - I can only presume that's gone up as well by now.
