DEAD TIGER BARB

I walked over to my tank today and I saw my favorite fish, an awesome tiger barb named simon (his friend was garfunkle) dead on top of my tank. I have no idea why he died. Someone please help me so my other tiger barb stays alive. I have 1 rainbow cichlid, an opaline guarami, 2 platys, a pleco, and a bristlenose catfish in my tank. I just added this medicine called Algaefix to get rid of the huge amount of algae that was in my tank, and im wondering if this had any affect. Someone please help me.

O i forgot to mention its in a 20 gallon tank with a whisper filter

The algaecide could have knocked out your beneficial bacteria. Check for ammonia and nitrites and do a 20% water change.

my tank went into a mini cycle and it killed all my tiger barbs straight away but none of my other fish died, check your parameters
