Why do people rate an Lfs down because of seeing a few dead fish in the whole tank. for all you know they could have just come in from a shipment etc. i go to my lfs which are great and if i see a dead fish i let them know only one staff works there a day with about 50 tanks. he/she cant do everthing so i jus help them out sometimes elp them with getting fish out from a shipment if im there when it comes in. i just want your reasons....

For me, it doesn't reall matter to me if there are a couple of dead fish in the tanks. What really matters is why they are dead. The fish shop which I se all the dead fish in has abou 3/4 dead fish. The reast are sick with bad cases o fungus, ich, or other diseases  Or when the staff des nothing about it even when you tell them.

Ya, if ever theres a dead fish with a bad symptom they treat the tank imidietly and put a sign on the tank saying fish not for sale.

Fish die every day at the LFS for lots of reasons beyond the shops control, how to tell a good lfs is if they are still selling ill fish, let them know there's a problem in one of the tanks and they should remove the price label and later they will treat the tank.
Some places don't do this though....

I think most of us expect to see a dead fish here & there, but when there are dead fish in numerous tanks, and the rest of the fish show signs of disease or ill health it's a real turnoff. A few dead fish is one thing, but when it's obvious the place has a major problem with their tanks & fishkeeping problems it's time to leave without buying any fish. I always look every fish over in a tank with the type I'm interested in - if I even see one in the tank that has ich, clamped fins, or some other sign I don't buy. It's not the dead ones that concern me as much as the shape that the remaining ones are in.

it doesn't bother me. most of the time they come dead in the shipment. its not there fault. and if ur unlucky and get a dead one in ur tank they are always happy to replace it

If there are many dead fish then you should be worried or if the fish look sick in numerous tanks.
I normally would not buy fish from a tank which has a few dead fish and/or seriously unhealthy looking fish.
Dead fish are not normally the fault of the shop but the shipment.

i can understand now! why so many people are always sayig about hating fish shops cuzza dead fish. i think its because all 3 of my local lfs are great! i think everyones helped me udnerstand why people do get so annoyed with some fish shops.

At a fish shop near me, I found a fish that looked like it'd been dead for a number of days if not longer and looked absolutely discusing. When I told them, they didn't seem fussed. When it's like that, I think it's bad.
