I have a young datnoid in my tank and ive been offered a young peacock bass which illed realy like to, I have read a peacock bass grows quite fast and datnoid slow,
Is it safe to buy the bass or will it grow to quick and end up eating my dat?
Thanks Tom

not a good idea, be an expensive snack and could possible damage the pbass when eaten.

Datnoids are brackish water fish, so the water parameters needed wouldn't be suitable for a peacock bass.

Only one type of datnoid is brackish and does perfectly fine in fresh water, dats grow reasonably well to 5" given the right amount of food ( they need a lot ). I have baby bass in with my baby dats but in a month or so they will need to be separated as the growth rate on bass is rapid to say the least. In my experience bass will eat fish half there body size easily and are pretty aggressive feeders.
The spines on your dat will more than likely kill the bass so you will end up losing both fish.
The only way I would combine them is to buy the dats big
