Danny's Cycle...

:hyper: hehe!

Sounds good to me.

My results are the same, not quite 0ppm but not 0.25ppm either!

Oh I had to do another test before I actually left... LOL.

<0.25ppm :good:

rofl see, you are just like me !! Couldn't wait. Good results........does yours look like its increasing slightly or is the colour always the same? Mine moves on a teeny tiny bit, but still under 0.25, expecting it to be 0.25-0.50 by morning though.....

Just got in,

Yeah I can't help myself either haha!
Lost at football tonight, hopefully the results will cheer me up a bit :hyper:

It was at 0ppm, then obviously it has increased slightly and the colour has stay constant...

Right, got the results:

<0.25ppm but looks more closer to the higher side now...

a slow rise is okay, means with a water change it will be easier to manage, don't panic yet. Bet mine is higher than yours by morning lol Watch me cry then :shout:

Haha.

So should I leave the water in for the rest of tonight then?

Then test again in the morning?

I need to get another female Guppy in that tank asap really! horny males... lol

It looks like you're successfully keeping nitrite down now. :good:

How long do you think before I can add another female...

Just that my male is seriously sexually harassing my female LOL

I just fed the fish... don't want to get back into the habit but I gave in cause they looked hungry
(I need to get stronger :p)

I will water change if the Nitrite rises above 0.25ppm, however if it doesn't how often should I water change?

Well if your fish-in cycle were to go for the average 1 month plus a week of "qualifying" then you'd predict Saturday, Aug. 22 as your day to add more fish for the first time. But of course that's just if you matched average, instead it would be when you find you can go that week without water changes and still have zero ppm ammonia and zero ppm nitrite(NO2). Well, if it doesn't seem to be rising above 0.25ppm, you would not change water but test again 12 hours later and change water then if it looked like more than 0.25ppm.

~~waterdrop~~

Arh right okie doke :good:

I'm sure she can keep him off until then haha!

So I will test my water tomorrow morning then around 9:30...

I'm expecting the Nitrite to rise... Will also test the Ammonia!
But if neither do and Nitrite stays <0.25 or dead on I will kinda happy...

Hope your tank is okay this morning.

My betta tank isn't, it spiked to 5 overnight again ! I cannot believe this, 7 days is a row now, 0 ammonia and the nitrates were 20 but tested today at around 30, between 20-40, so it is cycling, but this nitrite is killing me. So the gravel clean did slow the rise during the day, only rose to around 0.15 in 9 hours, but left overnight and POW, 5.......

It can't be the gravel as my minnow tank has the same gravel and they have never gone above 0.50 nitrite in 60 days......their tank was 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite yesterday, this morning there is a trace of ammonia, around 0.10, nitrite 0. So they are almost there I think. Though maybe not, their nitrate seems to sit at around 20-30, but then I do small changes daily with them, so that may be why.......

Okay, so today I have cleaned gravel again, and done 100% water change in betta tank, I removed all decor and fake plants so he just has the same gravel as before (same as minnows) and a starfish ornament (minnows also have same one), so they cannot be causing any spike. If it still shoots to 5 by tomorrow then I know its not being caused by any decor or plants. If it stays low then I will add back one item per day till I get a spike, if this happens then it could be an item........though I really don't think it will be as all this stuff has been in from the start, I am 3 weeks in and had the spike for that past week.....I might have to start a thread as I think I need some advice.

I hope your having better luck than me this morning Danny...............

Good morning :)

Well My tank hasn't spiked that high but I got the following result...

DSC_0041.jpg

Guess its only rose 0.25 to get to 0.50ppm in a night... will perform a 50% water change when I wake up a bit more! :hyper:
My Ammonia is still sitting at 0ppm! This just hasn't changed since ive had the tank which I think is quite weird...?

I feel for you though! I don't see how it could spike so high! especially if it only rose gradually throughout the day...?!
I really hope this new water change and the gradual replacing of items works out for you and you find the reason behind these spikes!

Maybe if you create a new thread it would be helpful for you :)
