Miss Dib Dabs
Loony.
A few weeks ago (well three really) I decided to go ahead with an experiment at seeing just how good our bettas can be at parenting. Obviously this only really applies to the fellas, since any female daft enough to stick around after nooky doesn't live long.
Anyhoo I went ahead with Max, my marble HM male and Misty, a sweet HM girl. Spawning went well and she went home totally unscathed, if a little squished feeling.
This all happened within Max's own long term home (5g tank), with his neighbour blocked from view. And now, three weeks later, he's being remarkable. A few days ago I removed the sheet blocking him from his neighbour, so they can flare if they want. His babes are still with him, with the exception of about a dozen that I moved to the larger fry tank last week.
This footage was taken this morning and you can clearly see his babies right beneath him.
