Ohh so for my new tank when i get my filter and place it in the main tank to cylce would it speed it up if i put 1 quarter of my cycled filter into the new filter or would i still have to wait 4 weeks.

Sorry thats quite confusing. Thanks in advance. :good:

If you want to instantly cycle the new tank, use 1/3 of your current filters media in the new filter (obviously replace the media in your main filter!) but you would only be able to stock very lightly in the new tank.

Or, if you place the new filter directly into your main tank for 4 weeks, you could then move it over to the new tank and stock reasonably to the limit as it will be able to cope with the amount of waste that the main tank is producing.

As your planning on putting a betta in the new tank (correct me if Im wrong) you could put the betta in straight away. But you would have to then slowly add the cories, 1 at a time over the course of say 4-6 weeks, starting 2 weeks after you 1st put the betta in. Problem being that the cories wont like being on their own.

Couldn't i add like this
- 1st day - 2corys
- week later - 2 more
- half a week later 1 more.
- 5 harlequins
- a betta

Also i am deciding to not have a quarintine tnak as many people have said not to as they haven't ahd one for years and nto ghad many illnesses so i am thinking of the hexagonal one for a betta. So maybe no9t gonna have a betta in their after all.

You could, but you would need to test daily for any ammonia/nitrIte spikes, which may occur from adding too many fish too quickly, you have to let the bacteria adjust to the waste load slowly as it wont be completely cycled so you may up with a mini cycle each time you add more fish.

No I would not advise it, max of 2 at a time and then I would still leave it 2 weeks inbetween adding more.

puppyjess, my little dear, i know you are excited and everything, but to me it sounds like you want to rush it all and get all your fish at once in there, as fast as possible. please dont, as hard as it is dont rush this or it will end in disaster.

:)
