AKA "Sparky"
Id give it half an hour to an hour...

I just wanted to add more to reach the 4-5ppm mark. It was recommended to add 7.5ml but added 5ml first then too the rest little by to see how much it really needed.
I added the ammonia at 6:55pm on Friday and I check it at 12:00pm Sat(today) and it came out to 1.0
This means, what I understand, it to high for good bat to grow and that 5ml was to much for my 40 gallons.
The temp was at 80F so I raise it to 85F also.
The Ph is at 76 Tap 72
The NO2 is at 0ppm Tap 0ppm
The N03 is at 5.0ppm Tap 5.0ppm
So what the next step? Water Change?

) and airstones are just personal choice. The one thing that might be helpful is to know that if you can't place the pump above the tank then you'll want to get a one-way check valve so water can't come back through the line and damage the pump. I also always think its helpful to have a little set of "gang valves" (little brass knobs to adjust airflow and allow multiple airstones or bubble decorations) even if you only initially have one airstone (although if you know you will limit it to that you could just maybe find one little adjuster.)
