ok...Tank 2 is starting to bug me.

Its in Day 70odd now. am i gonna give up on this one too? This is silly?

here's some disheartening news for you. It took my tank 80+ days to cycle initially!

I don't know the background, but sounds like maybe 'tank 1' has cycled? Have you tried moving some media over from that one to give 2 a boost?

yeah i thought that...just wish the media i started it with was as mature as i thought it was??

Yeah, mature media needs to be kept wet and it needs to be fed, otherwise it starts to die off. If it dries out, it can completely die off.


I think it may be time to steal some media from tank 1 to push tank 2 along. The good news is that your nitrites are way down with the smaller dose. They are handling things pretty well. The issue is that they are taking a while to multiply so that they can handle a larger dose. I would steal a bit of media from Tank 1, never more than 1/3rd and seed Tank 2 a bit more. It WILL happen. It is just going to take some more time. The good news is that usually with cycles like this, your biofilter will actually be quit hardy once it is finished and work very well for you. This process only has to happen once like this. From now on, you can always just use media from your established tanks to seed things. Keep at it, you are getting closer.

i just looked....i'm on day 79...so mine will be longer than yours! i'm still on 1/2 doses too. grrr
