Ctenopoma

Lovely pictures!

I have one, and love him (or possibly a her... I have no idea). He's eating live food now - feeder white clouds and guppies. What a pig! I got sixteen tiny white clouds one day, and by the next day every one of them was gone! Needless to say, Spot wasn't doing too much the next day.

A Little Bump

I've just seen the first what seems to be courtship dance, one of the Ctenopoma was hovering sideways in front of the other and then began to vibrate just as female Kribensis do :D

I dont have the original photo, thats all i have as it was chopped

Wow!! That's exciting :hyper: :hyper:

If they do "get it on" as it were, i have no sodding idea what to expect, i think they bubblenest  i need to start doing some research as ive had more jiggles this evening lol

yes they do make bublenests, mine have done on several occasions.
however given the other inhabitants (large Danionins) the nest is soon destroyed.

I would imagine that a sucessfull breeding would be very similar to the following article for Ctenopoma ansorgii

Oh, crap, funny thing is one of the Ctenopoma has evicted the Bristlenose Plec from his cave, i did wonder what they were up to sitting under the wood surrounded by dense plants....i wonder if they have taken to spawning in a cave ala Kribensis?

Updates are us....rite well ive had them a while now and they have grown nicely and plumped up a tad. Still get the occasional "jiggle" but nothing to signify they are actually getting down and dirty

Just a little update, ive had them now for some time and they have grown in personality and girth (due to my spoiling them i expect)...then tonight i had been sitting taking pics randomly when this happened....

One fish started rubbing the other, the top of the two started to vibrate and "jiggle" in front of the lower, they have been doing this on and off for the last hour or so.....god know what ill do if they spawn, i was so surprised to see baby Bristlenose Plecs in their tank, a little batch of these would be amazing :)
