I know the answer will probably be no but ive wanted some for ages so worth asking. Could a 1 or a pair of these work in a 30G with a pair of Laetacara dorsigera and 2 Bunocephalus coracoideus? The tank has loas of twised bits of wood which will break up the line of sight and mean there is quite a few places to hide.

I had an adult in a 6 foot tank with a female Nannacara Anomala and Lemon Tetras for a while and no casualties.

You often see Dwarf Pikes in with Apistos as part of a Dwarf Pikes diet is Apisto and Angelfish fry. I cant see any issues with the Banjos either.

Just a tip though mine hid all the time and rarely ventured out far for food he just waited till the current brought it to him lol :p

I would go for a singleton pike and give it a go, just dont add any tiny tetras or schoolers etc.

Cheers, yeah i was hoping it would be ok but wasnt sure how it would be with the Laetacara as they would be in the same reigon of the tank. I have Angel fish in the tank aswell but i would most likely rehome them if i got a pike, plus there not getting along with the Laetacara to greatly at the moment. Ill give one a go then, just need to find one now haha.

If you dont mind doing postage I know Rare Aquatics have them in stock and they were really nice wild Rio Tapajo ones :) I saw them the other day and they are really healthy :)

I would just make a bunch of territories at either end of the tank. Let the Laetacara claim their space and then add the pike into the tank to the other area via a net and he probably wont move out of there much and just lurk around its lair waiting for passing food - ie fry and bugs :)

If it come to it i would pay postage but i would prefer to have a look around and see what i can get first.
The other thing i forgot to mention is atm there is 6 of the Laetacara because im waiting for a pair, would it be best to add the pike now or wait till i have a pair that way theres not as many fish in the pikes territory?
Theres only 1 cave in there now but i have a load of coconut ones i can throw in when i find one.

Ah right yeah I would wait for a pair to form and then add the pike :)

Coconuts should work okay for the pike :)

Yeah probably be best, by the looks of things it shouldnt take to long because one of the females seems very intreased in the cave that the biggest male has claimed.

This is the tank at the moment but im not liking it at all, the only reason the wood is like that is so the angels have some cover becaus without it they are very timid

Oh wow that looks awesome! It will work well as a dwarf tank :) Just knock the wood over into corners so it sits a bit lower and you get a V shape and I reckon a pair of the Dwarf Acaras and Dwarf Pike would work really well.

Im not to keen on it, im not sure what it is but theres something im not liking about it. Once the Angles are gone ill probably put all the hits the other way up so there is more of the pieces at the bottom to give a bit more cover and ill do what you say about pushing them into the corner, If i do that on the left side for the pike then the Laetacaras should be fine in there cave on ther right which is hiden under the big piece of bog wood.

Well i couldnt resist some Hoplo catfish in my lfs which i got 8 for the price of 4. I know 8 will probably be to many but in the future i wouldnt mind trying breeding so ill grown them out them keep maybe 2 males 2 females. But i guess this means the Crenicichla i going to have to wait for untill i get another tank or restock this one.
