As far as him being a breeder...He is football shaped, He has pointed face, the transition from his forehead to hid dorsal is poor. The individual rays of the dorsal are also not smooth. He has average color in his body and weak color in his eye. If you were serious about the fish you would have them in a bare bottom tank with a group of adults, you would be changing 50% of the water nightly, and feeding a good beef heart recipe. How many of these thing are you doing?

changing 25% of the water bi-nightly, and feeding beef heart/daphnia/blood worm/ shrimp and another I can't remember the name of at the moment
Not looking to bred at all I said they are a breding pair in regards to they have bred, I neither intend to encourage them to breed or to profit from breeding.
I just couldn't let them be flushed down a toilet alive and I wanted to help them, I could have destroyed them, but I thought they deserved a chance.

my question to you is what do you do to any fish that doesn't conform to perfect breeding characteristics and if a fish was feeding well and tatty and shown improvement, not stressed and hiding would you destroy if it would feed and exist for another year or more?

If I have an adult discus that is not good enough to breed I cull it. Makes good fertilizer for my flowers.

I've asked on another forum and the opinion is this bloke is a total git with little or no respect for anything living just a person who pm's me telling me he's a fish breeder who gives lectures and destroys anything thats not perfect= fish nazi
After satifying myself I am not contributing to there stress here
I will not be destroying them though I wonder how john would like it if his views were used on him by a doctor.

you know, it's perfectly reasonable and pretty common to keep animals without having any strong interest in breeding them. this is why we have "pet-quality" and "breeder-quality" dogs, birds, bettas, discus...

I join the fish allied forces then

A few things about me. One I normally post from the viewpoint of a breeder and not that of a causal fishkeeper. If your opinion is different then great. That is what makes the world go round. Two I don't normally hide behind cuter little screen names and throw rocks. I have great respect for living things, but I also understand how life works. Death is just part of it. Last year in the first 6 months of the year I produced 3000 discus. This does not include the ones that I culled. I do not have the tank space available to keep the ones that don't measure up. My entire life has been spent with animals. No where is it guarenteed that a person will have a long life. Why would you think a simply fish would be? If you will check the animal kingdom you will find that it is much more harsh then what you think that I am. I highly doubt that you checked me out on another website. If you did why not tell me which one.....while you are hiding behind your pretty little screen name. I also posted some pics on the other discus thread for you to see what quality breeding stock looks like. None of them are perfect but they are good enough to be spawned.

I'm both fully aware of the finer points of life, I find your methods barbaric and I know that's the way some sectors work.
That being said I'm sure that many people would accept not atomically perfect fish if they were healthy.
suggesting I terminate a 'pet' because it doesn't fit your criteria is both offensive and shows contempt for life-
I personally find both your manner and practices offensive please tell me what company you work for so I can make sure I don't ever buy from them.
dyed fish is another area I dispise and there are processes under way in many countries to make it illegal-please tell me that's not another area you work in.
