Could I Add Another Plec?

i know im chopping around all over the place, first frontosas then firemouths but ...... i Went into my local MA and discussed additions to the tank, we came to the conclusion that what i had was fine and would all grow larger so not to add anymore large fish.

However..... they had some amazing L134 leopard frog plecs and snowball plecs.

do you think i could add one of them or maybe both of them to my tank?



5 denisonii barbs
2 convict cichlids
2 firemouth cichlids
2 cupid cichlids
2 african butterfly fish
4 pictus batfish
1 L015
1 golden panchax
1 dwarf gourami

im not sure, my levels are fine at the moment so wouldnt know until another goes in, i am running 2 filters and waterchange twice a week.

i did have a gold nugget in there too but it died soon after i got it.

it died a few weeks ago. i think it died due to the nitrite going up to .25 for a day as i moved some things round in the tank.

they are known to be very sensitive. the guy in my local MA said that from his delivery of plecs half of the gold nuggets died in transit. which is a much higher percentage that all the other plecs.

i think if i added another plec then i would add another external filter. so i would have 1 internal and 2 externals on it

so after talking with your LFS and agreeing that the tank is well stocked........you want to add another plec anyway?

slooooowww down. Enjoy the new fish that you currently have. I know it's tempting to keep adding to the stock, but you've really got a very decent mix in that tank already.

Adding a THIRD filter so you can add one more fish does seema bit excessive.

yeah but its not even about filtration, its about the size of the tank and the amount of poo that those plecs would produce.

3 filters is just going over the top, you deffinately seem too keen to get more fishies! like zoddy said try and enjoy what you have and realise you cant have everything
