You lucky monkey!

I spend ages trying to get babies and you just let them be and they co-operate. Pah.

*smiles*

sorry saz326, it really was luck.lol pic is now up :hey:

congratulations, what corys do you have?
i have 3 peppered and 4 bronze. its the bronze corys that are spawning. i bought 12 red eyed tetras over the weekend and there was a bronze cory in a tank all on its own so i just had to have him, well i thought it was a male, turns out he is a she and she's the one laying eggs

I have 2 baby cory I raised. It's an adventure breeding these guys. My pandas spawned too but did not manage to raise any sadly. Its easy to get them to spawn it's harder to raise them. Once they start breeding they don't stop. Enjoy.

The people that are in the Cory section are so awesome and helpful if you have any questions.

ive just been searching the tank and the top of my heater is covered in eggs, i think around 40-60, its hard to count them  . ive setup a tank for some of the eggs with the water from the main tank.ive put around 6 inches of water in at the moment because ive read that the babys need to reach the surface quickly or they run out of puff and die?

i was definatly not ready for them.lol, i hope i can save a few corys

OMG!!! my peppered corys are now spawning too!!! they are in the talking catfish's cave doing the do as it were.lol what a fantastic day !

Fab news :good:

good luck with them, has snowflake says the spawning & hatching is the easy part, its the rearing thats hard work...

Have a read up at the pinned section at the top of the page, theres some fab info on breeding & setting up a fry tank :good:

Let us know how they go

UPDATE:

no sign of kittens yet, eggs are like a yelowish color and have little black centers? some are still clear/white so im guessing they are not fertile eggs.

the yellowish ones sound good :good: if you can get the white ones out incase they form fungus and ruin some good eggs

UPDATE 2:

we have eggs with tails! they are hatching as i type. im getting quite excited now, although i must admit im worried i cant care for them! its my first time rearing fish so i hope i dont mess it up. doeas anyone have any experience? i need all the help i can get :good:

Hi plecostomus-mad :)

Congratulations on hatching your first spawn!

Now to care for them.... The most important things the tiny fry will need are lots of food and plenty of water changes to remove what they don't eat and a hormone they produce when they grow. Any ammonia they produce will be removed at the same time, so you can turn off the filter until they are large enough to need it. It will be fine if you just leave one of the air stones slowly bubbling to cause a bit of water movement at the surface.

I don't see any mention of the substrate you are using and hope it's just a thin layer of sand.

To start my cory fry out, once they are all hatched I rinse a filter out over them and let it settle. They will eat the microorganisms in it for the first week or so. Then, when I start seeing movement on the bottom, I begin to add microworms and/or Hikari First Bites. If you hatch your own brine shrimp, they are excellent food too. (Avoid any water poluting liquid foods.) That's the time to start doing daily water changes to keep the tank clean and help them grow.

My fry tank looks like this at first:

Lots of luck raising them! :)

woke up this morning to find another batch of eggs!

the eggs i separated last time have nearly all disappeared? they are in a tank on there own with no other fish. i saw them hatching, well there tails wriggling out of the egg.this morning there is no sign of anything. im hoping they are among the gravel at the bottom.

anyway i think i will buy a 40l cube tank today for hatching the fry, then move them on to my 60l 30 x 15 x 12 for rearing. im off to my lfs to buy supplies shortly, bbs , breeding nets etc.
