Corydora randomly died

Hello, I’ve got a corydora, he was pretty big and seemed content but the next day I wake up and he has died, there was a weird black thing on his stomach it’s a 100 gallon tank and they have plenty of room, can corydora die from being bigger? Thank you got a photo of him from when he died but unsure if you can post it if it’s against the rules, thank you

I believe (based on previous answers to the same question by long-timers here) that post-mortems are fine, especially since it is for pathology.

Do you have any other Corys, they like larger groups (6+). Also, what are your water parameters?

I have like 11 corydora they are different species but they school together a lot it’s nice and here are my results

There isn't enough info to comment - how long have you had the fish?

As well, we always want to know why things happen, but these things can be truly random.

I’ve had that Cory for almost a year now

A year is a short time for a Corydoras, so she died young. You may never know what from. It's sad.

The first suspicion is always that it's related to pet store life, which is why how long you've had it matters a lot.

I got it from a place called Ripples in telford, is there a better place to buy fish?

If she lived a year, it isn't on the store.

There's a place about 5 km from me that's great, but this being the internet, that's 5000 km from you. I just discovered there's a place called Telford...cool!

Yeah I asked ripples about the life span of their fish and they said they don’t breed them to die early I guess it could’ve been old age since it was regular size when I got it

could it be that she scratched herself and it kinda swelled

The swollen belly is abnormal and will be a symptom the cause of death. I don't know specifics but the colouration might suggest infection.
