 :grr: Everything I have is sick now!!!

I have the mollies, fry, and glofish in the 10g sick tank being treated for bacterial infections. Now my cory has a parasite. He is still in the 29g. He has red places at the base of his fins, and what looks like a white worm in one of the places. He is laying around, then swimming like crazy. In the same tank my pleco is looking patchy colorwise. It looks like bleached spots. What is that?

I am about ready to give up. I just can't seem to get these fish well. Fish are supposed to be a stress reducer, but these are stressing me right out of my ####... mind!

Is clout safe for a cory? I have live plants in there too. Will it hurt the plants?

Thank you
:S

Does the worm have a forked tail.
Need stats as the fish has red streak which can be poor water quality to septicemia.

I was having a mini cycle. nitrite spikes. Tolak told me to double up on conditioner at water changes. That seems to be working, but I am still showing some(not as much) so I am doing daily water(small) changes to keep it down. Here are the stats before water change.

pH 6.8
KH 80
GH 50
nitrite .5
nitrate 20
amonia 0

The red streaks are only on his underside. He has red places at the base of his fins, and some have open sores. One of them had a tiny little white wiggley thing in it, but I can't get a good look at it. He moves way too fast! When he is still it is sort of under him on the side fin so I still can't see it. When I did see it it was only for a second.
He only has a couple of streaks. It is mostly the sores at the base of all his fins. They are really red. I feel so bad for him.

The parasite it causing bacterial infections, got to get rid of it that why its important to know which parasite it is.
Going for anchor worm get some info for you.
Have you added any new fish or plants to the tank.

Clout
Manufacturer: Aquarium Products
A very strong and effective medication for parasitic and protozoan infestations. Treats: Ich, Hydra, leeches, Planaria, Epistylis, Trichodina, Hexamita,Tetrahy-mena, body fungus, digenetic flukes, parasitic copepods, monogenetic flukes and anchor worms.

Nothing new at all. I have had so much trouble with bacterial infections in the last few months. I have put off everything new until I got everything under control. Every time I think it is all over, it starts again. Through all of it the cory has been fine. Now he isn't. His color is lighter now too.
The spikes came from nowhere. I was told it was probably the town adding more to the water and me not compensating for it during the water changes.
I am so confused. Everything is the same. So where would I have gotten a parasite from?

The bacterial infections are due to the parasite there nasty as some carry nasty bacteria and once they pierce the skin with there hooks or suckers it enter the fish blood stream.
To be honest don't know where it come from, do you have other tanks.

29g with 1 cory, 2 otto, and 1 pleco(waiting on a home)

10g (hospital) with 3 mollies, 3 large fry, and 3 glowfish. all with bacterial infections.

1g betta tank with 1 male betta. (with ich)

Everything got sick one right after the other.

could the parasite have caused the infection on the mollies too? I have looked, and they dont have any sores or anything that I can find on them. They were all in the same tank to begin with. Now they are all separated.

If they were all in the same tank possible that they were already infected.
Also you can carry desease and parasites to other tanks if you don't sterlise equipment after using it in a tank.

oh...forgive my manners... I got excited having someone live with me answering my questions so quickly. I didn't want to take too long and lose you.

Thank you for all your resposes!
:D

I did move some plastic plants that were in the big tank. I thought it would help with the good bacteria. :(

The worm or what ever it is doesnt look like the picture. It is very tiny bright white streight tube.

Hi ICEEGRL :)

Your cory and other fish have bacterial infections from the poor water quality. When you start seeing red marks and open sores, they are on their last legs. I posted about a similar problem earlier today on this thread:

http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=165478

What you might be seeing are the results of the infection. There are a number of symptoms and sometimes a variety of them show up at the same time. Sometimes the fish will die without showing any of them. It's not too likely that it's a paracite too.

Since you are in the US, the medications available include Furan2, Tetracycline or other antibiotics. Maracyn might help, but if you use it, be sure to use Maracyn2 at the same time because it won't kill all kinds of bacteria. Since your cases are advanced, you might also want to add a little aquarium salt to the water. I'd use about a tsp. per 10 gallons. Keep the temperature no higher than 75 degrees F.

Good luck. I hope they get well for you.

Ok, don't know what that is then.
I wouldn't remove it as don't know what parasite it is as some if you remove them do alot of damage.
I would still use the clout seems to treat a wide range of parasites.
Like inchworm has said treat the others for bacterial infections, but once they mount up not good news.

If they were all in the same tank possible that they were already infected.
Also you can carry desease and parasites to other tanks if you don't sterlise equipment after using it in a tank.

This is so true. I am a paranoid freak about this; bleach is one of the things I use on a regular basis. I have a couple dozen different hoses for siphoning tanks, trying to keep each one from any cross contamination. Since many of my tanks are on racks one above the other I cut my own tops from light diffuser panels, these cover the entire tank, with small openings cut for filters. These tops prevent any water splashing from upper tanks to lower.

If it is indeed anchor worm Clout is an excellent med for this. As I stated before it is powerful stuff. Be ready to do a large water change if you notice the fish are in distress at any time.

Here's a link to one of the places I order most of my meds from, they carry meds you won't find at any lfs; http://www.fishyfarmacy.com/

Their prices are good, and they are the most knowledgeable people around when it comes to fish medications. I have used up some serious long distance time talking to Brian, one of their staff who knows the meds, how they work, and probably thousands of things I haven't even thought of concerning sick fish and meds. They are always willing to help, and have no problem talking for 1/2 hour + about fish, I have some phone bills to reflect this. :)

I just adjusted my heater. I had it on 78. I moved it down 2 clicks and will check it again later to see where it is, and do another water change. I will put the clout in then. It goes 1 tab for every 10g. Mine is 29g. so with gravel and all probably closer to 25 so do I put 2 or 3 tabs?
