Cory Quantity

As suggested in another thread i had on the go, i am thinking of upping the amount of Corrys in my tank.

Currently i have 2, but i was wondering how many i could have in a 90L tank. The tank is very cube like, so has a fair bit of ground space unlike a vertical aquarium. Would a total of 6 be ok? I am a little concerned that will be to many?

Also, i know Corrys really prefer sand, but i have gravel in my tank - i gather this is still ok?

Gravel is still ok. But it WILL damage their barbels, I had gravel in my tank with 4 cories for a year and a half, and the barbels got VERY short, one even got damaged, and then grew back weird and deformed, I would certainly reccomend cahnging to sand, It looks better, and wouldn't cost alot for a 90L. I recently changed to sand and i can already see some growth in my cories barbles.

if the gravel rounded or even the resin style gravels it should make a differnce to the cory. I'd up the cory population to 6, they always do much better in a group.

Thats cool, i want the six, but was not sure if it was to many for the floor space.

I think the gravel is called pea gravel? Very average stuff. I will look into sand though Is it harder to keep clean? Does it not float everywhere when cleaning? Are all other fish (inc a rainbow shark) ok with sand?

It's easier to clean but it looks dirty quickly. It doesn't float about don't worry, sinks very quickly too. There's no fish that I know of that are no good with it.
