Hi people : Have an old fashioned corner box filter
Corner box in a tiny 10 gal Aquarium : Air pump rate is 20 Gal per an hour : 1 Betta, few Rasboars all very happy healthy in a planted tank with Anubias plants only. tank cycled :
Reason I'm asking is because although that air pump rate works form me, I read that flow rate per hour should be at least 4 times Aquarium size

It is no wonder people have such trouble in this hobby, with all the nonsensical misinformation we encounter. I agree with seangee. Filtration is really not at all understood by some aquarists. In my 10g I would not have anything other than a single sponge filter, which is about as slow a water movement as one can get. For a year my 10g had no filter at all. I used dual sponges in my 20g, 29g and 40g tanks as well. It all depends upon the fish. If they do not require currents, then don't provide them. With plants this is even more the case, low flow.

I think that 4 times number comes from manufacturers who want people to buy more expensive filters than necessary.
