i syphoned my wrigglers out of the rocks of my communtiy tank. it looked like the rents were eating them. i must have over 100 of them and theyre in about 3 inches of water in a jar. i heard it takes a couple of day for them to swim freely, do i need to feed them now or then?

will they survive until then in this jar? i dont have a tank that theyll survive in. i want to harvest them for my shrimp tank.

I would suggest putting them in a plastic container, fill it with tank water and let it float in the tank. You can use the jar if it works, but you will definetly need more water in there. Add some plants to give them some cover and change the water DAILY as a minimum. The more the better, you don't have to change it all at once. Just pour half of the water back into the tank and fill it back up with tank water again. I'm not sure on the feeding part, but since they can't swim I would say that you don't have to feed them. I know nothing on convicts, but normally when fry have a wriggler stage its because they still have a yolk sack attached. They can only swim when they have used up most of the yolk.

During wriggling, they get nutrition from the yolk sacks, but if the jar is stagnant, I'd suggest a mild swirl every so often until they become "hoppers" as the constant laying may cause fungus to film over them as the "mouthing" and fanning functions of the parents has to be simulated. They'll definitely need bigger quarters as was suggested and regular water changes and add 1 drop of liquifry (no.1) in on the 2nd day of wriggling to start infusoria development. Still remains dicey if many will survive??
